About the Opportunity
In this challenging and exciting role you will provide patient care in a critical care setting, communicating with physicians about changes in patient's condition including hemodynamic monitoring, results of diagnostic studies and symptomatology. Able to respond quickly to changes in condition and assist physicians in both ICU and other departments. Functions as a liaison between administration, patients, physicians and other healthcare providers. This career opportunity is available at Kindred Chicago Lakeshore located at 6130 North Sheridan Road, Chicago, Illinois 60660.

Responsibilities:

* Knowledge of medications and correct administration, reducing the potential for medication errors
* Able to perform head-to-toe assessment on all patients, formulate an individualized plan of care and evaluate plan daily for effectiveness
* Knowledge of cardiac monitoring, identify dysrhythmias, and provide appropriate treatment
* Able to assess and care for patients in post-anesthesia period, in PACU and ICU
* Able to accurately assess pain and utilize appropriate pain management techniques
* Provide care to patients with compromised nutritional/metabolic status and those requiring extensive fluid and electrolyte management
* Communicate with charge nurse, coworkers and physicians, consulting other departments to provide an interdisciplinary approach to patients' needs
* Maintain documentation that meets current standards and policies.


Qualifications

Required

*

Candidate must be flexible, organized and function well in stressful situations. Current state Registered Nurse Licensure required along with current ACLS and BCLS certification.

Preferred

*

Prefer successful completion of critical care course and one or more years of recent critical care experience.
